Press Release: Apprentice Boys for Cookstown on Easter Monday

South Derry and East Tyrone Amalgamated Committee, Apprentice Boys of Derry will this year host the annual Apprentice Boys parade in Cookstown on Easter Monday 5th April 2010. A large number of Apprentice Boys’ Amalgamated Committees, Parent Clubs and Branch Clubs will take part in the parade through the town. The parade will assemble at Beechfield Playing Fields from mid day and move off at 12.30pm. The parade will be lead by Tamlaghtmore Silver Band and headed by Officers of General Committee Apprentice Boys of Derry and Officers of South Derry and East Tyrone Amalgamated Committee who will make their way to the Cenotaph where the Chairman of South Derry and East Tyrone Amalgamated Committee will lay a wreath in memory of all who gave their life in Service of their Country in both World Wars and in the more recent conflicts at home and abroad. A short religious service will follow before the parade continues on through the town to Sweep Road and back through the town to Oldtown and continuing back to Beechfield for dispersal at approx. 3.00pm.

A spokesman for South Derry and East Tyrone Amalgamated Committee said this is the first time we have hosted the parade in ten years and as it is the first parade of the year it is now one of the largest parades throughout the season and increasing in numbers each year.
